I think I've reached that conclusion that the Jam, despite their occasional catchy hooks, were a really crap band. Supposedly their first album is a punk classic, but these two (their second and third) are bad enough that I don't need to investigate any further.
That being said: "All Mod Cons" is decent if you look at it as nothing more than a proto-Britpop album. It's derivative, and lazy, but there are some good hooks to be found.
Its predecessor, "This is the Modern World" pretty much sucks. The title track is decent, but otherwise...ugh.
The question remains: why am I posting this if I hate it so much? Well, most people like the Jam. Maybe you are most people. I don't want my opinions to prevent music piracy from brightening the lives of others.
